George Tripulas
George G. Tripulas, age 76, of Wharton died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 in a Houston hospital following an extended illness. He was born on Oct. 14, 1930 in Wharton the son of the late Gus P. Tripulas and Patricia Kocian Tripulas.
Mr. Tripulas was a lifelong resident of Wharton and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton. He was the owner of Tripulas Carpet which was established in 1948. Mr. Tripulas was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department, the Wharton EMS and American Legion Post No. 87 of Wharton. He married Virginia Laverne Borak on April 29, 1966 in Wharton and she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 1996. He was also preceded in death by one sister.
Friends may call for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton with Rev. Lance Ousley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
Survivors include his daughter Tracy Tripulas of Austin; and a brother, August "Gus" Tripulas of Wharton.
Pallbearers will be Steve Kuhn, Neil McDonald, Manuel Munoz, David C. Tripulas and Daryl Brenk.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Milton Rod, Norbert Erdelt and all of the former and current members of the Wharton Voluntary Fire Department and Wharton EMS.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department, 319 N. Fulton, Wharton, TX 77488.
