Children, grandchild host party for their mom, grandma

Valeria Denise and Lesley Jerome, the children of Stella Garcia of Thompsons, along with granddaughter Zerlee LaToya had a birthday celebration for their mother and grandmother at the Regency Inn and Suites banquet hall in Rosenberg on Oct. 6. The hall was decorated in gold and many shades of purple. Gold and purple balloons were hanging all around in the room. On all the tables there were flower arrangements.

The centerpiece consisted of five different flavors of cakes covered with white and purple icing that had a large purple ribbon and had "Happy 70th Birthday Stella" written on it.

There were around 200 family members and friends present from many areas of Texas.

Stella is the granddaughter of the late Jim and Minnie Simmons Sr., formerly residents of Glen Flora. Stella received many gifts, had a wonderful time, and her official birthday date was Oct. 8.

The members of Sand Ridge Baptist Church invite everyone to their Musical on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

Two well-known couples of Wharton County will be celebrating their wedding anniversaries this week.

Happy wedding anniversary wished go out to Roy and Margaret Sparks of Boling. They will celebrate seven years of marriage under the wool and copper, traditional, and desk sets, modern, wedding symbols on Oct. 14.

Doug and Ann Soderstrom of Wharton also will celebrate 41 years of marriage under the ruby, both traditional and modern, wedding symbols on Oct. 15 .

We lost our publisher Fred V. Barbee Jr. of El Campo on Oct. 2. Mr. Fred will truly be missed by every heart he touched.

Sympathy with prayers are expressed to the Sanders and Coleman families who lost their loved one, Juanita Coleman Sanders of Wharton on Oct. 6.

Belated happy birthday wishes go out to Malikka Tolden of Egypt who turned 13 years old on Oct. 4 and to

Ashley Taylor of Boling whose birthday was on Oct. 7.
