Slanina paces 7th grade Brahmas EAST BERNARD - East Bernard's 7th grade football team scored early and often en route to a 56-26 win over Van Vleck in Thursday afternoon's District 27-2A contest at Memorial Stadium. Ty Slanina continued his superaltive performance, scoring six touchdowns and totaling over 300 yards in total offense. He returned the opening kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown and added the 2-poin conversion. Just moments later he raced 40 yards for a score and added another conversion. Van Vleck answered with a touchdown and 2-point conversion before the quarter ended to make it 16-6. Slanina then raced 53 yards for a touchdown and the missed conversion left the Brahmas with a 22-6 lead. The Leopards answered with a touchdown and 2-point conversion to make it 22-14. Slanina then connected with Vic Pettit on a 60-yard scoring strike. Chris Orsak added the 2-point conversion to put the Brahmas up 30-14. Van Vleck picked up a touchdown before the half ended to make it 30-20. The Leopards made it a 30-26 game early in the third quarter but Slanina returned the ensuing kickoff back 62 yards for a score. Collin Dusek added the 2-pont conversion to make it 38-26. Slanina then scored on a 47-yard run and Orsak added the 2-point conversion to make it 46-26. Pettit recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter and Orsak scored on a 45 yard run. Then with three minutes left in the game, Mario Belman raced 80 yards to pay dirt. Offensive standouts included linemen Jack Delmar, Brady Babin, Jacob Jalowy, Garrett Douglas and Jordan Darr. Defensive standouts included Jacob Kolafa and Mike Hernandez. East Bernard, now 2-1, on the season, plays at Hitchcock next Thursday. |
