7th grade Pups post 14-12 win over Palacios
Iago 8th grade football team shutout by Sharks 41-0

PALACIOS - Iago's 7th grade football team improved to 3-0 on the season after beating Palacios 14-12 Thursday afternoon at Shark Stadium.

Iago jumped out to a 6-0 lead with two minutes left in the second quarter on a 2-yard run by Jaylen Garcia.

The TD was set up by the running of Allen Garcia and Zach Hession.

The conversion try failed.

Alfred Pinkney raced 60 yards to paydirt with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter to make it 12-0.

John Allen Bock added the 2-point conversion to put the Bullpups up 14- 0.

Palacios came back to make it 14-6 after a touchdown in the third quarter.

Iago, on the the running of Riley Steffek Rojas and Gillis drove inside the redzone twice but failed to score.

The Sharks then picked up another touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it 14-12 but the 2-point conversion try failed.

Offensive standouts included Aaron Sanchez, Trey Harrell and Nick Abbott

Defensive standouts included Eric Gooden and Rene Rodriguez who intercepted to kill a Palacios drive in the third quarter.

Iago plays at Danbury next Friday in the District 27-2A opener.

Iago's 8th grade team dropped a 41- 0 decision to Palacios to fall to 0-3 on the season.

David Acosta, Eric Hawley and L.D. Tanner were offensive standouts.
