7th grade Tiger team football teams play

Wharton's 7th grade Blue football team battled Bay City to an 8-8 standoff in Tuesday afternoon's game at Wharton Junior High Stadium.

Bay City went on top 8-0 on a 23- yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion with 2:33 remaining in the first quarter.

Wharton tied the score with 4:21 left in the game on a 26-yard scamper by Nathaniel Allen.

Quarterback Kurt Chumchal passed to Briane Mireles for the 2-point conversion.

Offensive standouts included Timothy Mills, Kimberly Castro, Derek Thomassie, Victoria Almeda, Ryan Castellano, Jason Mendoza, Jacob Pace, Guadalupe Callejas and Devin Garcia.

Defensive standouts included Dontea Dillard, Jamark'quin Larden., Michael Chapa, Jimmy Gonzales, Jonathan Toomes and Bryan Aguirre.
