Wharton splits dual matches in Huntsville HUNTSVILLE - Wharton's tennis team played dual matches against Willis and Montgomey's B teams last Saturday. Wharton took 15 of 19 matches from Willis and lost to Montgomery 12-7. "I really thought we played well against Willis," said Wharton coach Roben Eller. "We were intense and put a lot of balls in play. "Against Montgomery I was disappointed in our play. I think we played tired and because of that we didn't put much fight in some of the matchs. In boys singles matches against Willis, Chris Feyen lost 6-2, 6-7, 10-6. Ryan McMicken won 6-4, 6-4; Ric Doetsch won 6-3, 6-2; Sylvester Mayfield won 2-6, 6-2 19-12; Calvin Boehm lost 6-3, 1-6, 10-8; Patrick Tulley won 8-6 and David Barnes won 8-6. In girls singles matches, Ashley Aaronson won 9-7, Jessica Kainer l ost 6-2, 6-7, (7-4) Kim Janik won 6-1, 6-1; Rachel Gubbels won 6-0, 6-0; Paige Mata won 6-0, 6-0 and Megan Lesak won 6-0, 6-0. In boys doubles matches, Feyen and McMicken won 6-4, 6-2. Mayfield and Doetsch won 6-2, 6-3 and Boehm and Ethan Massey lost 6-2, 6-3. In girls doubles matches, Christie Viktorin and Aaronson won 6-1, 6- 4. Janik and Kainer won 6-3, 6-2 and Paige Bahnsen and Rachel Kocian won 6-0, 6-0. And in a mixed doubles match, Tuley and Gubbels won 6-3, 3-6 (11-9) In boys singles matches against Montgomery, Feyen lost 6-2, 6-2; McMicken lost 6-3, 6-2; Doetsch lost 6-4, 6-3; Mayfield lost 4-6, 6-2 (10-6); Tuley lost 6-3, 6-4; Manesh Perera won 8-1 and Ethan Massey lost 8-4. In girls singles matches, Aaronson won 6-4, 6-3. Kainer won 6-4, 6-3; Janik lost 6-1, 6-2; Gubbels lost 7-6, 6-3; Bahnsen won 7-6, 6-0; Viktorin won 8-0 and Kocian won 8-1.
