At the recent 4-H Awards Banquet, the 2007-2008 Wharton County 4-H Council Officers were inducted and introduced.
These individuals were elected in May by members of the Wharton County 4-H Council.
This year's officers are President Alexis Cooper, First Vice-President Laura Reyna, Second Vice President Sara Lopez, Third Vice-President Shelby Rod, Secretary Hannah Krenek, Treasurer Colleen Krenek and Reporter Brett Walalce.
The county officers attended District Leadership Lab as well as District Academy during the summer, where they learned leadership skills, team work, goal setting and discussed ideas with other district officers and adult leaders about ways to get more kids involved in 4-H.
Officers also worked on getting raffle items for the Wharton County 4-H raffle ticket fundraiser which can be purchased from any 4-H member or the Extension Office.
All of the officers have already started planning for the 4-H Fun Day which will be held at the Fairgrounds on Oct. 28 from 3 to 6 p.m.
4-H members are encouraged to come out and have a good time and are welcomed to bring a friend.
The officers are also looking forward to meeting the new council members from each club at their meeting on Oct. 29.
The council will be discussing upcoming events, community service projects, and ways to promote 4-H so that they may take these ideas back to their respective clubs.
