Lady Tigers aim for win over Sweeny
The Lady Tigers beat Sealy 25-18, 25-21, 16-25, 25-15 to improve to 5-2, completing the first round of league play. In the match against Sealy, Heather Reynolds totaled up 20 kills. She also had eight digs, three blocks and two assists. Brittany Gutierrez contributed with eight digs, one kill and four aces. Vernequa Taylor had eight kills with six digs and one block. Sharneace Johson had five kills with four digs, two aces and a block. Shaniqua Dogins had three kills with one ace and a block. Setter Megan Jost had 34 assists with three digs, one kill and one block. Liz Reyes had three digs. Jalessa Jones and Jenise Harris each had one block and one kill. Coming up Friday, Wharton will host a Royal team that was 0-7 before playing 2-5 Sealy last night. In other action last week, Sweeny beat Brazoria County rival Columbia 26-24, 25-21, 25-23 to improve to 4-3 in district play. League leading Columbus beat Needville in a tough-five game match on Friday to improve to 7-0 and played 1-6 Stafford last night. Needville slipped to 6-1 and played 3-4 Columbia. 24-3A Standings
