Tigers still prowling for first victory

      Wharton's football team will try again to pick up its initial win of the season on Friday. The Tigers host Royal in the second District 24-3A contest. Wharton is coming off a 34-12 loss to Sealy and the Falcons beat Stafford 18-6.

      HITCHCOCK - Boling's volleyball team didn't play one of their better matches of the season but still managed to beat Hitchcock Friday afternoon in Bulldog Gymnasium. The Lady Bulldogs won 25-11, 20- 25, 25-11, 25-19 to improve to 2-1 in District 27-2A play.

      ALVIN - WCJC slipped to 4- 3 in the District M Region XIV volleyball standings after losing to Alvin Community College Monday night. Alvin won the first game 30- 21 but WCJC came back to win the second 30-28. Then the Dolphins came back to win the next two games in scores of 30-24 and 30-21.

      DANBURY - East Bernard's volleyball team slipped to 1-2 in District 27-2A volleyball standings after losing to Danbury Friday afternoon in five games at Panther Gymnasium. Danbury won the first game 26- 24 but the Brahmarettes came back to win the second game 25-18 and the third game 25-21.

      EAST BERNARD - East Bernard will go after their second District 27- 2A win Friday night when the Brahmas host Van Vleck. The Brahmas are coming off a 48- 21 win over Danbury and Van Vleck is coming off a 10-0 loss to Brazos.

      WEIMAR - East Bernard's girls cross country team finished third in Saturday's Weimar Invitational. Lexington took the meet championship with 48 points. Fayetteville was second with 51 and the Brahmarettes finished with 96 points.
