Report misleading; Jones still missing

Houston area news reports Tuesday of a man's body being discovered in a river led some area residents to the conclusion that missing radio personality Bobby Jones had been found.

That was not the case. Offi- cials with the Wharton County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday afternoon that ongoing searches of the Colorado River have failed to locate Jones or his vehicle, which is believed to have rolled off into the river back on June 23.

Sonar, probes, underwater videotaping and air searches have scoured the river above the Colorado River bridge down to the low water dam. So far, nothing has been found.

The search will continue as river levels fall even lower.

"We may have to start digging some of the silt on the banks," said Lt. Daniel Marek.

"Time will tell. We haven't found anything."
