Lady Bulldogs even 27-2A spiker record VAN VLECK - Boling evened out its District 27-2A volleyball record to 1-1 after beating Van Vleck 25-11, 25-17, 25-7 Tuesday night in Leopard Gymansium. "I liked the togetherness of the group on the court and the energy I saw on the bench," said Boling coach John Black. "That's been something we've been stressing for a while. No matter what you have to stay in it and keep your head in the game." Boling dominated the first game and went up 8-0 in the second. Van Vleck answered with eight straight points to tie it but the Lady Bulldogs pulled away. "We lost focus in the second game and really didn't have a good rhythm," said Black. "We got it back in the third game and Van Vleck kind of shut it down. They didn't get the ball back over to us very often." The Lady Bulldogs played at a Hitchcock team Friday that is winless in district play. The 0-2 Lady Panthers played East Bernard who slipped to 1-1 after losing to 3rd-ranked Brazos Charae Grosser led Boling's offensive attack with eight kills. She also had six digs and four blocks. Stephanie Rachunek contributed with seven kills and five blocks. Jessica Moore added six kills and an ace. Katie Womack had two kills with three digs and two blocks. MacKenzie Baker had three kills with four digs and 18 assists. Ebony Ashley had two kills and assist and Kelli Ermis had five digs. "She (Baker) had one of her better matches setting," said Black. "She kept the offense moving and set the ball cross court with a lot of one-on- one attacks." Black agreed that Baker is close to 100 percent with her torn ACL. "She's getting as close as she's going to get," said Black. "She's very confi- dent on it and not hesitating like she had early on." Whitney Rachunek had four digs with three aces. Kelsey Stolle had three digs and one ace. Coming up Tuesday, Boling hosts the Brahmarettes in their first home match since Sept. 7 when the Lady Bulldogs beat Ganado. "I don't mind playing on the road; no matter where you play it's good to be in a familar surrounding," said Black. The courts and the nets are the same. "All matches are important and we need to play each one as you play the next one. "Our schedule is a good one, we just have to play our best matches and keep winning." Brazos plays at Danbury and Van Vleck hosts HItchcock in the other two district matches. Boling's junior varsity beat Van Vleck 25-13, 25-10 to even its district record at 1-1 and improved to 8-13 on the season. Standouts included Emily Forgason who had several serves which resulted in points, and Pagie Bucek, Sarah Hardee, Ash Lunford, Kayla Montgomery and Reba Rios. The freshman team lost to Van Vleck 25-22, 25-19 to slip to 4-13. Standouts included Kasey Ivy, Alyssa Farrell, Brandi Watson and Ashton Kalina. 27-2A Standings
