      LOUISE - Shiner had little trouble in taking care of Louise in Friday's District 31-A opener at Hornet Stadium, 42-7. Louise had a great start before fans had a chance to settle in their seats. Only two plays into the first quarter, Antwon Parson broke free for a 57-yard touchdown run.

Lady Tigers notch 24-3A win over Sealy

      SEALY - Wharton completed the first round of it's District 24-3A volleyball schedule Friday afternoon by beating Sealy 25-18, 25-21, 16-25, 25-15 in Tiger Gymnasium. Wharton improved to 5-2 in league play and Sealy slipped to 4-3.

Tennis team dominates Edna

      Wharton tennis team's hard work and playing tough opponents paid off on Tuesday at the WCJC Kelly Tennis Center. The Tigers dominated Edna by winning 18 of 19 matches. "We played pretty well against them," said Wharton coach Roben Eller.

      BEEVILLE - WCJC thought it had evened its District M Region XIV volleyball record to 3-3 after beating Coastal Bend College 30-25, 30-21, 30-19 Thursday night. But WCJC officials learned Thursday that Alvin Community College had to forfeit the match it won Monday.

Tiger freshman drop 24-3A football opener to Sealy
      Wharton's freshman football team dropped it's District 24-2A opener 19-0 to Sealy Thursday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. Sealy got a touchdown and extra point kick to go up 7-0 in the second quarter. The Tigers of Austin County added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to go up 19-0.
