Shirley McLeod

Funeral services for Shirley Lavon Reed McLeod, 73, of Pledger, were held Friday at Wharton Funeral Home with Will Hill officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. McLeod died Sept. 25, 2007 at Triumph Hospital Southwest in Sugar Land following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 21, 1934 in Newgulf, the daughter of the late Alton Lanham Reed and Erma Lucille Hobbins Reed.

She had been a resident of Pledger for most of her life. Mrs. McLeod was a secretary for Texas Gulf Sulphur for more than 35 years, retiring in 1988. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pledger.

Survivors include daughter, Lisa Ioannides and husband Dimitri of Plano; sons, Stephen McLeod and wife Susie of Pledger and Roger McLeod and wife Sandra of Old Ocean; sister, Peggy Hill and husband Frank of Norcross. Ga.; seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
