Big State Music Festival only two weeks away

Charlie Robison will perform at the Big State Music Festival.
The Big State Music Festival that is put on by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation is scheduled for Oct. 13-14 at the Texas World Speedway in Bryan-College Station. But even though it is still over two weeks away, tickets are going fast. At a glance, it doesn't look like the bouncing baby event that it is, judging by the lineup and array of features set to fill the several hundred acre venue.

The talent totals around 50 acts on five stages and includes Tim McGraw, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lyle Lovett and his Large Band, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan, The Wreckers, Los Lonely Boys, Sunny Sweeney, Jack Ingram, Robert Earl Keen, and more from Nashville, Texas, and beyond. BMI, a sponsor of the event, will host a showcase stage of BMI artists.

"I am really excited about Big State," said Dierks Bentley. "I know these guys can put on a great show - not only for the fans-but for the artists, too."

Tickets can be purchased at www.bigstatefestival.com or by calling 888-512-SHOW. The earlybird tickets are $75 for a two-day pass - averaging about $1.50 per band - and the allotment is limited.

"Our goal is to deliver an experience that is loaded with music talent," said Charlie Walker, partner at C3 Presents, the show producer. "But we also want to give fans lots to do, see, hear, drink and eat at a great price." Much like C3's other events - Austin City Limits Music Festival and Lollapalooza - Big State is a destination festival that doesn't stop at the music. It delivers a complete experience for music fans and families.

In addition to multiple stages, fans will be treated to real stock car racing on the 1.8 mile oval, one of the biggest purse prize barbecue showdowns in the nation, green grass, a Roadhouse Sports Bar, the Little State kids space, food from local favorites, plenty of cold beverages, and many more highlights for music fans and their families. For those who want to hunker down for the weekend, camping will be available.
