Lady Tigers dealt 24-3A loss by Needville Wharton's volleyball team slipped to 3-2 in District 24-3A play after losing to rival Needville Friday afternoon at Tiger Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers won the first game 25-23 but Needville came back to win the next three by 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 scores. Wharton played at winless Stafford on Tuesday night and visits Sealy on Friday. Needville entered last night's match against winless Royal with a 5-0 record. Columbus beat Sweeny last Friday and was 5-0 before playing Columbia who was 3-2. The Lady Cardinals and Lady Jays play a big match against each other Friday in Needville. Sweeny was 2-3 before playing Sealy last night. Heather Reynolds led Wharton's offensive attack against Needville and had 13 kills. She also had seven digs, one block and one ace. Freshman Shaniqua Dogins finished with 11 kills, four blocks, one assist and one ace. Vernequa Taylor added seven kills, 16 digs, two blocks and two aces. Sharneace Johnson had five kills with one block and one dig. Brittany Gutierrrez finished with eight digs and two aces. Setter Megan Joost had 25 assists with four digs and one ace. Liz Reyes finished with six digs and Jalessa Jones and Liz Reyes had one each. Needville was led by Megan Bludau who had 11 kills and Lisa Gerken who had eight. Heather Hutson and Lisa Gerken each had 16 service points and setter Lacey Bosak had 26 assists. 24-3A Standings
