Daniel Klasel

Daniel Edward Klasel Sr., age 74, of East Bernard, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007 in a Houston hospital following an extended illness. He was born on May 14, 1933 in East Bernard, the son of the late Fred Klasel and Julia Foltyn Klasel.

Mr. Klasel graduated from Wharton High School. He attended Wharton County Junior College, the University of Houston and graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Texas. He was employed by General Motors as a district manager for more than 30 years. Mr. Klasel was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hungerford.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hungerford with the Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Burial followed in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Rosary services were held Sunday evening at Wharton Funeral Home.

Survivors include his former wife, Barbara Cahill Klasel; children, Daniel Klasel Jr. and wife Janie of Jacksonville Fla., Bridget Luker and husband Randy of Spring, Andrew Klasel and wife Cherry of Baton Rouge, La., Timothy Klasel of Atlanta, Ga., and Matthew Klasel of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, James Klasel and wife Betty of Sweeny; and brotherin law, Leroy Grigar of East Bernard. Mr. Klasel is survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
