GCMC plans a blood drive on Oct. 4

The volunteers at Gulf Coast Medical Center will sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.4, in Classrooms A and B. Call

The members of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Egypt celebrated their Homecoming and Friends Day on Sunday. The program began with the singing of "I Have a Father Who Can" and then the choir performed the same song.

Jermisha Sanford gave the welcome followed by singing "I Have a Father Who Can" a third time. An echoes period took place followed by a short talk by Charles E. Jackson of Crossroads Community Baptist Church in Manvel.

The climax of the program was the special dedication of Rev. Royal Jackson's pulpit robe to the church. Guest speaker, Rev. Edward Dawson of Progressive Baptist Church in El Campo preached from Mark 10:45-52. His topic was A Friend Assisting Family.

Emcee was Rev. Jackson. A dinner was held in the fellowship hall after the benediction.

The following couples of Wharton County will be celebrating their wedding anniversaries this week. Today

John and Melissa Kalina of Wharton are celebrating nine years of marriage under the pottery and willow, traditional, and leather, modern, wedding symbols.

And J. Robert and Caroline Osborne of East Bernard are celebrating 42 years of marriage under the ruby, both modern and traditional, wedding symbols.

Hal and Donna Chudalla of Wharton will be celebrating their 28 years of marriage under the silver, both traditional and modern, wedding symbols on Sept. 29. Wilfred and Diane Hubenak will be celebrating their silver, both traditional and modern, wedding anniversary on Sept. 30. Jobie and Jodie Phillips of Sorrel will be celebrating their 24 years of marriage under the china, traditional, and platinum, modern, wedding symbols on Oct. 1.

The members of White Cloud Baptist Church in Eagle Lake invite everyone to their Mission Annual Day at 11 a.m. on Sept. 30.
