Triumphs to play for county fair fundraiser

The Triumphs will play for the Wharton County Youth Fair Fundraiser dance on Oct. 13 at Crescent Hall. They'll play at the Fort Bend County Fair in Rosenberg on Oct. 6.
The Wharton County Youth Fair's 2nd Annual Fundraiser Dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 in Crescent Hall.

Music will be provided by the always popular Triumphs who play rock and roll oldies. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the music starts at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a live auction with various door prizes given throughout the night.

The event goes toward expenses for renovations and improvements at the fairgrounds.

The Triumphs were an important part of an era that launched old time rock and roll from the 1960s and 70s.

The youth fair is a countywide community-oriented effort where hardworking, dedicated volunteers have joined together to provide a spirit of camaraderie and togetherness for the youth of the area.

The WCYF&E provides the youth of Wharton County an opportunity to take on the responsibility of developing and presenting agricultural, livestock and creative art projects.

"Through this process, we (the fair) believe we are contributing to their character development and success.

"Our purpose is to provide encouragement and assistance, . . through scholarships, to these students in their efforts to achieve proficiency, through higher learning and education.

"The improvements to the fairgrounds will provide direct benefits to all the student participants, .... youth fair patrons, volunteer workers, and the general public attending the event at the fairgrounds and throughout the year.

"A safe and accessible facility plays a critical part in providing services to the youth and the general public in the Youth Fair's service area.

"The continued success of the youth fair effort depends on having facilities that meet the needs of the residents of the area."

All single tickets are $15 at the door. Persons may reserve and purchase a special 8-chair table for $200. It includes a meat-andcheese tray and a complimentary bottle of wine.

To make reservations or for more information, persons should call the fair office at 677-3350.
