      The second game of Tuesday's District 24-3A match gave Wharton momentum to beat Columbia at Tiger Gymnasium. Wharton won the first game 25-18 and battled back from a three-point deficit to win the second game 25-19. The Lady Tigers won the third 25-14.

      Wharton's junior varsity team got a 37-yard touchdown run by Brady Ward late in the fourth quarter to beat rival El Campo 26-20 at Tiger Stadium Thursday afternoon. El Campo went up 6-0 on a 3-yard touchdown run with 6:15 remaining in the first quarter. The conversion try failed.
