Fort Bend County Fair cranks up next Friday in Rosenberg

Texas singer-songwriter Cory Morrow plays next Saturday at the Fort Bend County Fair in Rosenberg.
The Fort Bend County Fair will crank up next Friday in Rosenberg with the theme "Blazing Trails, Supporting Youth." And there's something for everyone.

There's star-studded concerts, youth agricultural and talent competitions, rodeos, carnival rides, auctions and a parade - all offering up the best in family entertainment for the hard-to-beat price of $10 per adult for admission.

Held annually at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds on Highway 36 South in Rosenberg, the fair is celebrating its 71st year benefiting youth, promoting agriculture and supporting education.

"The Fort Bend County Fair is a vital institution for supporting our youth," said A. J. Dorr, the fair association president.

"Because of the efforts of our staff, volunteers and literally our entire community, we are able to help our youngsters blaze trails for their future by supporting them in their educational efforts."

To date, the Fort Bend County Fair has provided over $9.2 million through its combined efforts of scholarships and auctions to support youth education in Fort Bend County.

Todd Fritsch plays Oct. 4 at the Fort Bend County Fair in Rosenberg.
Concerts

Kicking off the first Saturday of the fair is a concert by one of the most popular performers in Texas music today - Cory Morrow. He'll be there with No Justice and is set to take the stage at 11 p.m. in a concert presented by KMKS Hot Country 102.5.

Celebrating his 10th year as a performer, Morrow brings fan favorites including "Nashville Blues," "Texas Time Travelin' Machine," and "Texas Bound Train," along with new songs from his anniversary CD aptly entitled Ten Years. "I Don't Want To Get Up" is the first new single to be released from the project.

Opening for Morrow, No Justice will perform live on Saturday, Sept. 29 on the Budweiser Concert Stage starting at 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 6, The Triumphs, Fort Bend's original rock 'n roll band, will open the show at 10 p.m. for headliner Blake Shelton, who will take the stage at 11:30 p.m.

The Triumphs have been playing since 1959 and started in a garage in Rosenberg, launched the career of five-time Grammy award winner B. J. Thomas and continue to play to their fans throughout Texas.

Gates open at 5 p.m., and anyone wearing pink will receive $1 off one adult general admission ticket.
