Gulf Coast Medical Center employees held a fund raiser by purchasing raffle tickets for a drawing held Thursday, Aug 6.
Prizes for the raffle were donated by each department in the hospital. They included items such as gift baskets and gift cards, and the grand prize was a frost free freezer.
Chaired by Patty Greiwe, director of Materials Management at GCMC, the fund-raiser was an opportunity for Gulf Coast employees to "give back" to the community. The organization chosen as the recipient of the funds raised was Hunts for Heroes.
Hunts for Heroes, headquartered in El Campo, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the men and women of the United States military by providing quality hunting and outdoor related activities to men and women that have been wounded on the field of battle in service to our country.
Formed in 2006 by Billy Hodges, president of the organization, Hunts for Heroes has positively affected 187 soldiers as well as their families.
Many of the service persons have not had the opportunity to spend time with their family outside of the hospital.
Hunts for Heroes operates solely on donations and grants.
