7th grade Tiger football teams split with El Campo

Wharton's 7th grade football teams split games with county rival El Campo Tuesday afternoon at the Wharton Junior High Stadium.

The Red Team beat the Ricebirds 6-0 and the Blue Team lost by the same score.

The Red Team got their touchdown on a 21-yard pass from Kurt Chumchal to Martin Gutierrez with 4:42 remaining in the game.

Offensive standouts included Timothy Mills, Brian Mireles, Tyler Perkins, Ryan Castellano, Devin Garcia, Jacob Pace, Jamark'quin Lorden and Chumchal.

Defensive standouts included Martin Gutierrez, Nathaniel Allen, Jonathan Toomes, Charles Alexander and Bryan Aguirre.

Offensive standouts for the Blue Team included CJ Roberts, Thomas Anders, Austin Cruz, Abraham Ventura, Alexander Durgan and Alan Suarez.

Defensive standouts for the Blue Team included Jalen Cameron, Blake Niemeier, Claudio Rojas, Antwon Burkhalter, Charles Montalvo, Ramon Frazier and Bartee Grissom.

Wharton hosts Needville next Thursday.
