LOUISE - Boling's volleyball team held off Wharton County rival Louise in a tough four-game match Tuesday night at Hornet Gymnasium.

Boling won by scores of 25-21, 26- 28, 26-24 and 25-22 to improve to 10- 14 on the season. The Lady Hornets slipped to 16-14.

"Louise played a good match and brought it to us and I give them credit for their play," said Lady Dogs coach John Black. "They had a lot to do with making us look as bad as we were."

"The bottom line is that we won," said Black. "Sometimes they're ugly wins and sometimes they are good wins. We'll take it but Louise brought it to us and I give them credit for their play."

"It's not the kind of match you want heading into district. The girls fought hard and at crunch time held together," Black said.

Boling trailed several times but was able to battle back.

"It was a long match and we gave away a lot of points," said Black.

"We were down early by five points in the first three games and at times we weren't aggressive," said Black

Boling was down 14-3 in the second game and rallied back to go up 25-24.

"We had game point twice but couldn't close it out," said Black.

"Early on we were having problems hitting their blocks. They were good and solid on us. We weren't as smooth offensively as we were last week against Ganado."

Charae Grosser led Boling's offensive attack with 12 kills. She also had three blocks with 15 digs and one assist.

Jessica Moore contributed with nine kills, three digs and one block.

Stephanie Rachunek had two kills and sister Whitney had one kill with seven digs and 11 assists.

Kierra Jackson finished with seven kills and three blocks. Ebony Ashley had six kills with 10 digs, five assists and one ace.

Katie Womack had seven kills with 23 digs and one assist. MacKenzie Baker finished with 30 assists, two aces and a kill.

Kelli Ermis added 12 digs and Caprice Loenzen added two more.

Sarah Williamson led Louise's attack with 20 kills. She also had two blocks, three digs and three aces.

Katie Brown added seven kills, and six blocks. Amber Bain had 13 kills and three blocks. Gabby Foster had two kills. Kirsten Machicek had one kill with 37 assists. Kelsi Kutac had two kills and Amanda Popp had a kill.

Boling played Yes College in Houston Friday night in the Lady Bulldogs' final pre-district match.

Boling plays No. 3 ranked Brazos in Wallis on Tuesday in their 27-2A opener. Brazos is 22-3 on the season.

"We're going to have to be ready," said Black. "We need to have a couple of good practices entering the Yes Prep match."

East Bernard hosts Hitchcock and Danbury entertains Van Vleck in the other two district matches.
