Wharton 7th grade volleyball team wins own tournament

The Wharton 7th grade Blue volleyball team beat rival El Campo 20- 25, 25-20, 15-12 Saturday afternoon to take championship trophy in the Wharton Invitational Tournament.

Wharton beat Sweeny 20-25, 25-19, 15-12 in a first round match and then beat Palacios 25-13, 25-12 in a second round match.

Players with service points included Katie Reyna, Vicky Garcia. Myavia Armstrong, Kaitlyn Norrell, Joy Nusplinger, Courtney Baker, Nina Gaona and Lara Ramirez.

Defensive standouts included CheKal Farr, Hannah Harper, Presley Gajewsky and Madison Cline.
