Brahmas roll over Comanches 35-20

EAST BERNARD - East Bernard relied on the one two punch of runningbacks Mike Hayes and Chris Plunkett to secure a 35-20 win over Shiner Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
Hayes scored two touchdowns and rushed for 138 yards. Plunkett ran for two scores and caught a touchdow pass, and rushed for 84 yards.
Hayes also picked off two passes from Shiner quarterback Kyle Condel and recovered a fumble.
East Bernard took over at their own 34 yardline to start the game and drove to the Comanche 34 after a personal foul penalty as Hayes was pushed out of bounds.
Quaterback Matt Stelzel kept the ball on next play and lost four yards back to the 39.
Then on a fourth down and 10 East Bernard punted the ball and the Comanches took over at their own 20-yardline with 7:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Cody Franke picked up 15 yards on the first two plays and Condel ran five yards to their 45 for another first down.
Franke was then thrown for a four yard loss back to the 45. Condel then failed to pick up a first down and Shiner punted.
The Brahmas took over at their own 14 with 4:33 showing on the clock.
Hayes picked up 26 yards on the first three plays to the 40.
Then on a third and nine, after a delay of game, Hayes ran to the 22 yardline.

penalty moved the ball to the 11 yard line.
Hayes then ran to the 2-yardline. Plunkett scored on the next play and he booted the extra point kick to put the Brahmas 7-0 with only 22 seconds left on the clock.
The score capped off a
10-play, 86 yard drive.
Shiner took over at its own 20. Josh Greathouse was stopped at the line of scrimmage on the first play as the quarter ended.
Two plays later, Hayes intercepted a pass by Condel and the Brahmas took over at their own 47 with 11-minutes left in the second quarter.
Randy Perkins then caught a 23 yard pass from Stelzel to the Comanche 19 yardline. Two plays later Lance Crump picked up 12 yards to the five.
Hayes scored on the next play and Plunkett's extra point kick put the Brahmas up 14-0 with 9:22 remaining in the second quarter.
One play after the kickoff, Conde connected with Franke to the Brahma 17. Two plays later, Franke scored from the 16 with 8:11 left in the second quarter.
Condel added the extra point kick to make it a 14-7 game.
Hayes picked up 18 yards to the 45 on the first play after the ensuing kickoff.
Then on a fourth and five, East Bernard punted and the Comanches took over at their own 10 yard line with 5:20 remaining until halftime.
Five plays later, Gabe Segrest recovered a Shiner fumble at the Comanches 18 yardline with 2:18 remaining until halftime.
Plunkett picked up five yards to the 13 on the first play.
After a five yard procedure penalty, Stelzel threw and incomplete pass to set up a third and 10 with 1:10 remaining.
Stelzel kept the ball on the next play and picked up nine yards to set up fourth down and the Brahmas called time out with 54 seconds left. EB called another time out. Hayes picked up a first down to the three yardline to set up a first and goal. Stelzel made it inside the one and the Brahmas called their last time out with 18 ticks left. Plunkett scored on the next play with 11 seconds and he booted the extra point for a 21-7 Brahma lead.
Shiner got one last play and Hayes intercepted the ball to end the first half.
Shiner took the second half kickoff and started at its own 33. Franke caught a 18 yard pass to the Brahma 48.
Two plays later Franke picked up 16 yards to the 26. Condel kept the ball on the next play and took it to the 10 yardline.
Franke scored on the next play and Condel's kick made it a 21-14 game with 9:52 left in the third quarter.
The Brahmas took over at their own 11 yardline after the ensuing kickoff.
EB managed to pick up a first down at the 28.
Three plays later, Plunkett picked up 45 yards to the Comanche 34.
Stelzel kept the ball on the next paly and took it around the right side to the Comanche 14 yardline.
Plunkett then picked up six yards to set up a second and four and the Brahmas a called time out with 5:43 remaining.
After a delay penalty, Hayes picked up 10 yards to the three to set up a first and goal.
He scored on the next play and Plunkett's kick put the Brahmas up 28-14 with 5:16 remaining.
The TD capped off a 10-play 88-yard drive.
Shiner responded and drove to the Brahma 39 after Ethan Darliek caught 15 yard pass by Condell.
D.j. Pustka picked up nine yards on two straight plays to the 30. Condel then ran to the Brahma 25 for another first down.
Randy Perkins then picked up a Shiner fumble and returned to the 41 with 1:14 remaining.
Crump picked up nine yards to the 49 on the first play and the third quarter ended.
The Brahmas couldn't convert on a third down and six and punted.
Shiner took over at its own 7 yardline with 9:26 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Comanches got a touchdown with only three seconds left in the game on a 3-yard run by Drew Stafford to bring the score to 35-20.
The extra point kick failed. EB took a knee after the ensuing kickoff as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
Shiner picked up two first downs and drove to the 33. Condel was thrown for a two yard loss.
A completed pass gave the Comanches an apparent first down but a holding penalty moved the ball back to the 29 to set up a third and 12.
Shiner then hit paydirt with only three seconds remaining when Stafford caught a 3-yard pass from Condel.
The missed extra point kick left the score at 35-20.
EB took the kickoff and ran one play to end the game,
The Brahmas, now 2-1 on the season, visit Stockdale next Friday.
