Ella Sitka

Funeral services for Ella Dorothy Sitka, 96, of Wharton, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Heyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. A vigil service will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Saturday, at Wharton Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Sitka died Sept. 13, 2007. She was born Oct. 24, 1910 in Sweet Home, the daughter of the late John Jurena and Annie Jalufka Jurena.

She had been a resident of Wharton for 70 years and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a former resident of the Hallettsville area. She married Alphonse Joe Sitka in Sweet Home and he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1975. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Marian Kolojaco and husband Jim of Houston and Delores Dolezal and husband Robert of Lakeway; sons, Ervin Sitka and wife Joan of Galveston, Charles Sitka and wife Margo of Winnie, Al Sitka and wife Margaret, and Larry Sitka, all of Wharton, and Lee Sitka and wife Deloris of League City; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

If desiring, memorials may be made to the Holy Family Fellowship Committee, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, TX 77488; or a charity of personal choice.
