New coaches join staff at high school, cheerleaders raise funds for trip
Chad McGee and his wife Amanda join us from Orange where Chad coached at West Orange High School. He is the assistant football and head baseball coach for the Bulldogs. Chad teaches special education. Geoff Pilcher and his wife Jessica come to the Boling community from Eldorado. Geoff is originally from Liberty. He is the assistant football, basketball and baseball coach. Geoff is teaching algebra 1 at BHS. The Iago Lady Bullpup volleyball teams traveled to Wallis last Monday to play the Brazos Cougarettes. All four teams did a fantastic job and played hard. Their first home games will be against East Bernard on Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Bullpup football teams played their first games at home last Thursday against Industrial starting at 5 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. The seventh grade defeated the Industrial Rattlers 20-6, but the eighth grade lost a hard-fought battle 34-0. The next game is Thursday, Sept. 20, at Louise. Two of Boling High School's outstanding cheerleaders were chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent their school, community, and their country. While at summer cheer camp, Kerbe Ford, BHS senior and head cheerleader, and Maegan Rolf, BHS junior were selected to join the UCA All-Star Cheerleading Team in the New Year's Day Parade in London, England. Kerbe is the daughter of Bill and Kem Ford of Boling. She has a younger sister, Kendyl, who is a freshman cheerleader. Maegan is the daughter of David and Nessa Rolf of Boling. Maegan has two younger siblings, McKenzie who is a BHS freshman, and Chase who is a fourth grader at Newgulf Elementary School. These young ladies need our help raising funds to cover their trip. They are having a bake sale at the four-way stop in Boling today beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until they sell everything. They are also having a Chicken Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Plates are to go only. Pickup will be at the Boling Fire Station and Hearthstone Assisted Living in Wharton. Tickets are $7 each. For questions, donations or to purchase tickets, please contact Kem Ford at 533-2698, Nessa Rolf at 533-0323, Kerbe Ford at 533-2585, or Maegan Rolf at 533-2572. Just 16 months after burning to the ground in a tragic and still unsolved fire, Grace Community Fellowship of Needville has risen from what usually destroys a congregation, and has grown and rebuilt on the same 3.8-acre property. Services were being held at the Needville American Legion Hall during construction, and the congregation grew and thrived during this time of displacement. "The church is the people, not the building," said Pastor David Allen. David's wife Debbie said, "God tears things down in order to rebuild them, and in this case the new building is a testimony to the absolute Grace of God. In the six weeks we have been re-opened, attendance has nearly doubled." Grace Community Fellowship of Needville is an interdenominational, cell-based, multi-congregational church of believers, equipped to maximize their potential and released to impact the world with the love of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is invited to visit the new 9,600-square foot church home located at 12616 Highway 36 in Needville from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 23, for open house. A celebration service will follow beginning at 7 p.m. Regular worship services are every Sunday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Boling High School Student Council is hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the BHS Home Economics Building. All donors will receive a free T-shirt, and they will be giving away door prizes. If you have any questions, please contact BHS Student Council sponsor Patti Hubenak at 657-2506 or 657-2748.
