Wharton completed it's nondistrict schedule this past Friday afternoon in a loss to Brazoswood 25-27, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21.
"We didn't play our best match," said Wharton coach Shauna Eller.
"We were a little sluggish and played every game behind.
Wharton rallied back to win the first game.
"They are a 5A school and pretty good," said Eller.
Wharton slipped to 12-8 on the season and resumed its 24- 3A schedule on Tuesday with a road match against the Royal Lady Falcons.
The Lady Tigers beat Sweeny in their district opener last Tuesday and Royal lost to Sweeny.
"Now we'll have a consistent schedule so it will be easier," said Eller.
Wharton hosts Columbus on Friday. The Lady Cardinals were 1-0 before playing Sealy last night.
Needville was 1-0 before playing Sweeny who was 0-1.
Heather Reynold led Wharton's offensive attack with 19 kills. She also had four digs.
Jalessa Jones had three kills and three digs. Judith Sanchez had three digs.
Setter Megan Joost had 35 assists with four digs and one ace.
Shaniqua Dogins contributed with nine kills, two digs and one block.
Sharneace Johnson added five kills, three digs and one ace. Vernequa Taylor had three kills, nine digs and two aces. Brittany Gutierrez finished with eight digs, one kill and once ace.
