Harold McVey
Harold Ray McVey, age 81 of Boling, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 in a Wharton hospital following a sudden illness. He was born on Jan. 19, 1926 in Madisonville, the son of the late George Washington McVey and Stacy Louise Brown McVey.
Mr. McVey was a resident of Wharton County most of his life and was a member of the Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He married Virginia M. Yeamans on Jan. 10, 1947 in Wharton. He worked for 36 years with Texasgulf Sulphur Company as a senior purchasing agent until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of CCAP and a former president of that organization. His hobbies included woodworking.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Paul Jones and Gene Polvado officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 87 of Wharton.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia McVey of Boling; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Counce Brod of Boling and Pam and Robert Moss of Fairchilds; brother, Fred Rudin and wife Bertha of Houston; grandchildren, William Ray Brod, April Denise Brod, Robert Michael Moss and wife Donna Kay and Amanda Raye Moss.
Pallbearers were William Ray Brod, Robert Michael Moss, William Counce Brod, Robert E. Moss, Michael Rudin and Fred Rudin.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Peter Erickson, Leonard Wittig, all former employees of Texasgulf Sulphur and his many close friends, neighbors and church members.
In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Abell Street Church of Christ, P.O. Box 790, Wharton, TX 77488.
Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
