Freddie Martinez

Private family services for Freddie Martinez, 60, of Wharton, were held Saturday at Wharton Funeral Home, prior to his cremation.

Mr. Martinez died Sept. 7, 2007 in a Wharton hospital following an extended illness. He was born on Jan. 4, 1947 in San Antonio, the son of Santos Martinez Sr. and Fannie Aguilar Martinez.

He was a lifelong resident of Wharton and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Santos Martinez Sr.; and brothers, Luke Martinez and Thomas Martinez.

Survivors include his mother, Fannie Martinez of Wharton; sisters, Janie Martinez Gusman of Wharton and Rachel Merlos of El Campo; and brothers, Santos Martinez Jr. and Raymond Martinez, both of Wharton.
